When an installation has a leak and it has been repaired, you must register this correctly in Climapulse. To do this, follow the steps below in the order indicated. This will accurately record your leak correction and the leak loss can be calculated correctly:
- Drain coolant with the reason “Necessary for maintenance”
- Perform repair
- Perform pressure test
- Evacuate
- Add drained coolant with the reason “Necessary for maintenance”
- Add new coolant with the reason “Leak”
- Perform leak test
If you are not reusing the drained coolant, you can of course skip step 5.
After completing these steps, the leak loss will be accurately recorded in Climapulse, in accordance with the actions actually performed.
Useful
You can create an internal note template from the above instructions, so that you always have a checklist at hand when recording and repairing a leak.
Checklist
– [ ] Draining coolant – Necessary for maintenance
– [ ] Repair
– [ ] Pressure test
– [ ] Evacuation
– [ ] Adding drained coolant
– [ ] Adding new coolant
– [ ] Leak test
IMPORTANT
1. Leakage loss > 5% last calendar year
Measure to be taken: the leaks must be repaired within 14 days of detection. Consequently, new coolant may only be added to the system after a follow-up check (within 2 weeks, after 24 hours) has been carried out for leaks. This leak check must be carried out within one month of the repair, but not on the day of the repair itself.
2. Leakage loss > 10% over 2 calendar years
Measure to be taken: You must report the leakage loss to the competent authority within the Government within 14 days of our determination. In addition, the cooling installation must be taken out of service within 12 months of our determination. Based on a motivated request, the department responsible for environmental enforcement can approve a deviation from the decommissioning of the cooling installation.
3. Leakage loss = 100% and the nominal content of coolant is > 30kg
Measure to be taken: You must report the leakage loss to the competent authority within the Flemish Government within 14 days of our determination.
